Dalene

I am happy to see bare skin again! Shoulders, legs, arms, feet! I love to see feet! As much as I love shoes, feet are at their prettiest when unadorned and free! It makes me feel less hot to dress like this, and to see others dress like this. This is the best way to enjoy an African summer...slap on a hat, flip-flops, culottes and a pretty white shirt...sip champagne in the park. Celebrate life!

Eva

Evs is a yummy mummy and looks gorgeous in her hippie chic maxi dress...even when carrying a box of delicious Charly's Bakery birthday cake for her 3 year old (my favourite 3 year old in the whole world - Luca Isabella!) I sure could use some Pongracz bubbly right about now...with those divine strawberries we had. We were also very fascinated with Evi's hair - corkscrew curls!

Chelsea

That hair! That smile! Nuff said.

Sunshine peeking through

I was so distracted when I took her photo, that I asked her name several times. In the series of shots you can see her steadily getting antsy/irritated/just "leave me alone now I've done you a favour!" She was really swell and I cant believe I still forgot to write down her name. I think it's Kelly. Yikes. Not a good journo moment. Everything was disorganised, including the amount of light the camera was set on. Hail technophobes! Get out of your caves! Thanks Kelly-I-think you were a trooper! Love your little dress, on trend fringed bag, tights and flat boots. And of course the best accessory of all - a pretty smile.

Greys still part of the scene

Greys, blacks and whites are still dominating the fashion landscape, echoing the sky, and the gloom of being the only part of the country still steeped in the midst of winter. Oh...what's that you say? Patches of blue? Let's hope Spring in Cape Town has finally sprung. Andrea seems optimistic. I especially adore the fact that she draped two scarves with different textures. And how hot is her nose ring? I also love the simplicity of dark hair with a fringe ('bangs' to those in the US)

Anthea

I was blown away by Anthea's charm and of course her obvious beauty. In a sea of dull Thursday evening shoppers, she just spoke to the rebel in me. I'd been thinking lots of tough things, formulating, researching and writing. I went to breathe some sea air, clear my head, and I saw her unexpectedly. I like sequins during the day by the way - when it's tasteful, not like the ones we used to see growing up in a dusty dorpie far north of here. She had a function to attend, but I wondered what else she could whip up. She just looks like a woman in control - fun, friendly, feisty and a little mysterious. Like the city...

Stephanie and Pammi-Joy

Cute and quirky never goes out of style, and it's in the shape of these two lasses. Fashion student Stephanie wears an I Love Leroy dress, a Marion and Lindie petticoat and shoes by Giorgio Armani. Pammi-Joy wears a black frilly tiered dress from Wardrobe (I went there today and it's chock full of little cute frocks!) caramel leather boots from Mememe (love them!) and also a leather messenger bag from Country Road.

Abongile and Anelisa

Abongile and Anelisa are a fresh-faced pair that I really adore. Anelisa's colourful coat is gorgeous, and paired with her scarf, plaid skirt and boots makes her look preppy, Spring-ready and warm. Abongile's denim skirt is on point - tiers are back! I also like her ballet flats, they look like Accessorize. These girls know how to pose! Rockin, ladies.

Sivu and BK

I did warn you Sivu would be back! Here she is with her friend BK. I like the neon pink jeans Bk's wearing, and her hair rocks. Actually, I like it all! You girls are fresh and happening. I'm sure they'll think I'm really old throwing such lingo around.

Chenel

This woman is beautiful. She calmly let me take her photo as she continued smsing. Turns out we have a friend in common. Small world! Her skirt caught my eye. She wears black and white really well. I like that the boxes on the right echo her bag...

Nelia

Nelia's beautiful scarf is the highlight. It's sunny, so the sunglasses atop her head are appropriate, but the snow on the mountains makes the Cape a confusing place to dress. We're still transitioning out of winter...

Beatriz and Beatrix

These women just have class. The lady in the denim knickerbockers is from Argentina, and shares a name with her South African friend in the aubergine long tee and chocolate leather boots. They are a lovely pair. I think they also win the best hair award today.

Minouw

Now this girl oozes style. She looks über-stylish in her burgundy velvet blazer over a belted teal dress, paired with dark boots and tights, and accessorized with a medallion. What a delight to look at and talk to! Love the choppy hair too...not to mention how cute her name is.

Jessica

Jessica's grey and black ensemble, with a splash of red on the cross on her bag, makes this a winning casual look. Her skinnies are just right, because she's got the height and figure for them. I love the bomber jacket with the (faux) fur hood.

Jack and Aston

This blog is also a lesson in listening and photography. As an amateur photographer I have to make sure I listen to the subject as well as listen to my intuition. Aston did ask me if I wanted to take another one, and because I was cold and had soup on the brain, I rushed it and said it was fine - the result is blurry but I love his pose. So far the men seem comfortable with me asking them to pose. Hurrah! I saw some working stiffs in Woolies that could be described as artfully arrayed, and will have to detain them at some future juncture. What made me stop these two was that they were speaking Chichewa, making them my homeboys! I couldnt resist Jack's leather jacket - that cleancut hiphop look is on point. Aston is more ghetto ruff and was wearing a Drunkmunky tee. The guy selling the rugs was amused by the Malawians just having a little powwow in front of his stall. After this fruitful excursion...I definitely had some soup and it was good y'all!

Derrick and Lucio

Lucio's silver shoes! Derrick's hat, pendant and that totally killer jacket. I adore unique people. I think they were very surprised that I thought they looked good. I imagine them totally fitting into the London scene...With a number of guys and nary a frock in sight, this blog might just make it after all!!

Nzuzo and Velelo

By now you're wondering if I ever got that soup I went to the store to buy. Answer is yes, but look what else I found in the dairy section...These two just look good, if a little surprised that I wanted their photo.

Sandra and Trish

These girls just stood out when I popped out for a soup run. I could not believe how cold and rainy Cape Town still is - I mean we are supposed to be partaking in the festivals of Spring! My toes froze for the first time since I left the icy Northern Hemisphere...it's like Old Man Winter followed me down here. Anyways - this is not about me and my frozen toes, it's about how good people look even on a miserable day like today! I love Sandra's wellies, warm colours and that goat's hair cardigan that she wore belted. "It's a must have for this season!" she joked with me. Trish also looks balanced and I dig her hair and bag. For something you just threw on, it works girls!

Sivu

Sivu - she's just so nice, gotta snap her twice. Sivu is an up and coming Cape Town stylist who has an eye to die for. She takes risks and always looks fresh and exciting. We're just easing out of winter in the Southern Hemisphere, and our girl knows how to layer an outfit to maximum effect. I dig her men's waistcoat and she's rocking those harem pants like she was born in a souk. And those white eyelet lace-ups - look suspiciously like the ones I was gonna get from Mr P. I have to say, this is the least colourful ensemble I have ever seen her wear! Always expect a dash, a splash or a whole bucket of colour and unusual, unique accessories. Watch this space...we love Sivu and will feature her again.

Thando

She's a winner wena! Thando even has the word 'fashion' emblazoned on her tee, so no need to wonder at the fact that she's great at putting together something that's au courant. Her accessories are divine (I want that patchwork leather bag!) and I havent seen anyone in town look this good in leather look leggings. That's a lot of 'Ls' by the way...

Rachel

She may be in her work uniform at this popular Waterfront eatery, but this girl's smiling outer loveliness and inner beauty are a winning combo that will outlast any garment she might wear.

Danielle

The focus is on her necklaces, two are vintage and the blue one is from Ghana. She has a stunning side profile, framed by her great hair. Blouse is vintage, white tee is Woolworths.
